Dear SMS Families,

Today's first day of state testing at SMS was a success! Over the next month, SMS students will take part in the Arizona Academic Standards Assessments (AASA) in Writing, English/Language Arts (ELA), and Math. 8th graders will also take a Science assessment. This year we will again be testing online using Chromebooks, rather than by paper and pencil. The schedules by grade level and test subject are below. Testing will take place beginning at the first bell on these dates and may end before the lunch periods, depending on the length of the tests.

6th-8th Grade Writing, ELA, and Math Assessments:
Monday, March 30, 2026: Writing
Wednesday, April 1, 2026: ELA Part 1
Friday, April 3, 2026: ELA Part 2
Tuesday, April 14, 2026: Math Part 1
Thursday, April 16, 2026: Math Part 2

8th Grade Science Assessment:
Monday, April 6, 2026: Science
